Kaileigh & JP’s Lifetime of Love Story: The Wedding in Mexico Chapter
Childhood friends turned sweethearts get married at Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen! We adore a good love story of fate, couples destined to live happily ever after from long before they say “I do”. Kaileigh and JP invited their family and friends to join them for an intimate destination wedding in Mexico and all of us at Villa Planners were excited to play a part in this chapter of their tale of amor.
Kaileigh and JP met in elementary school and quickly became best friends, sharing countless memories through their teenage years. Their bond remained strong through Kaileigh’s time in college and JP going off to the Marines. A pact made in jest to marry if single at 30 turned into something more when JP returned to Michigan after his time in the service. Their love story took a romantic turn during a summer trip in 2020 and the couple realized they were absolutely meant to be and started planning their destination wedding.
True love leads to Mexico: Why choose a destination wedding with Villa Planners in Playa del Carmen?
Getting to know our couples is such an important part of what we do at Villa Planners. Planning a destination wedding from a distance requires communication and we know it is important to listen and really hear you. It was so lovely to get to know Kaileigh and JP, they are such a charming couple. They were kind enough to share their Villa la Joya wedding experience with us and we are happy to share it with you.
Why choose Mexico for your destination wedding?
I always imagined if I were to get married, it wasn’t going to be a Michigan wedding. I always wanted a destination wedding. We came close to booking a venue in Michigan, close to home, but when it came down to it, my heart was not set on it. I then fully focused on destination locations and Mexico has always been a location I love to visit. When we found Villa La Joya, we knew Mexico was the place.
What made you decide on Villa La Joya Playa del Carmen and Villa Planners?
We were set on Villa La Joya the second we started looking at pictures. It was the perfect location and the whole aesthetic fit what we were looking for. After talking to Nancy at Villa Planners, I knew her and I would get along great and I wanted to book them right away.
The wedding story: Simply elegant wedding ceremony at Villa la Joya
The wedding ceremony on the front staircase of Villa la Joya was moving, emotional and simply elegant. Bride Kaileigh wore a wow dress with a sexy slit to show off her amazing legs, she was absolutely breathtaking coming down the aisle lined with blooms of white roses. Groom JP’s face lit up when he saw his bride, a magic moment. The couple chose not to have an elaborate altar, instead the ceremony featured their love as the star attraction.
What was your wedding theme or inspiration?
I wanted a lot of white and neutral colors. I am not a big color girl so I knew the focus would be white flowers and I love roses so we went with white roses for pretty much everything. I also loved the look of the string lights so I knew that was something I wanted for sure. The venue is so beautiful on its own, you really do not need anything over the top to make it look beautiful.
Time to sparkle: Villa la Joya wedding reception of light and love
Timeless, classic, and elegant, the Villa la Joya gardens were aglow with sparkling lights, oodles of candles, and white roses all around. We loved the floating arrangements by Cherry Blossom florals. The cake by Lali Pasteles was a two-tier beauty with just a dash of color in the pretty pink roses. Everyone was on the dance floor celebrating Kaileigh and JP at this unforgettable destination wedding reception.
What was your favorite part of your Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen wedding day?
My favorite part was never leaving the dance floor and watching all of our family and friends have the time of their lives. Every single person has since said it was the best wedding they have ever been to.
Anything you would have done differently in planning your destination wedding?
Honestly, no. Everything went so smoothly and the day was perfect.
Any advice you’d like to share with other brides planning to get married in Mexico?
Planning a destination wedding is not easy and it will get stressful, as any wedding will, but it’s so worth it. If you are ever debating on having a destination wedding, DO IT. Our wedding is something our friends and family will be talking about for a long time and that is the best feeling.
