Madie and Cole’s Destination Wedding in Mexico with Villa Planners
We are so excited to share this real wedding in Mexico with you! All of us at Villa Planners had a great time with Madie and Cole in planning their beautiful and memorable Playa del Carmen wedding. We met the engaged couple for a “wedding planning extravaganza” before the big day and got to know them as we strolled about Villa la Joya and tasted yummy gourmet treats. You are going to love the smiles in this one, it was a truly joyous event with some fabulous details!
Choosing a venue and wedding planner in Mexico? Bride Madie shares her experience
Getting married in Mexico is a great idea, we totally support your choice! Now what? You’ve got to find a specific destination, choose a venue and connect with wedding planners. Planning a wedding from afar takes a lot of trust and confidence that you are making the right decisions and getting the best advice. We asked Madie and Cole about their decision to book the wedding venue Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen and invite us at Villa Planners to bring the vision to life.
What made you decide on Villa La Joya and Villa Planners for your destination wedding in Mexico?
Funny story of how I found Villa La Joya, your profile popped up on my Instagram explore page. The second I saw it I knew that was our venue, it screamed “Madie & Cole”. Deciding to go with Villa Planners vs. anyone else was the easiest decision because using in-house streamlines the whole process. Adriana was a blessing when it came to planning. I’ve dreamed of my wedding for YEARS and had everything down to the detail envisioned. Thanks to Adriana I could explain my vision and she made it happen. I was truly able to enjoy my wedding day without worrying about those little details.
Destination wedding theme: “Timeless Tropical Oasis”
Birds of paradise, palms, roses, oh my, the florals by Cherry Blossom set the ideal scene for this gorgeous wedding day. The arch on the altar for the ceremony, the stunning bridal bouquet and centerpieces, the “timeless tropical oasis” theme fit perfectly with the gardens of Villa la Joya Playa del Carmen.
What was your wedding theme or inspiration?
Obviously, Villa la Joya is GORGEOUS by itself, but I always envisioned a timeless tropical oasis. Prior to getting engaged, I had photos of Cherry Blossom’s work at the Villa so deciding was easy peasy.
Hitting all the right notes: Madie and Cole’s emotional and musical wedding celebration
Do you cry at weddings? How about singing at your own wedding? Groom Cole had no problem letting his feelings out, the bridal party had bets on how many times he was going to cry. Who doesn’t love a sensitive man in love? Madie knocked us out when she grabbed the microphone and started singing, WOW, a newlywed bride with some talent and a sense of fun.
What was your favorite/most emotional or funniest moment of your wedding day? You sang in your reception?
My whole day was my favorite moment! I have a handful of core memories though, the first being when Cole cried once I got to the altar. The night prior all our friends were taking bets on how many times he was going to cry, so when we saw him crying at the arch it was hilariously sweet.
Probably my most emotional moment was when I heard our ceremony music start. Walking up to the entrance and hearing “I’ve Been Waiting For You” by ABBA really hit me that I was finally marry the love of my life.
Haha, I did sing (most of the night actually). Thanks to our amazing DJ he played some of my favorite musical numbers, and gave me a microphone so I ran with it. Never was in theatre, just love singing and Cole always supports me singing in the car.
Planning a destination wedding in Mexico?: Advice from bride Madie
We had SO much fun planning this wedding at Villa la Joya, we have the best job ever. The reception was dynamic, DJ UNO Audiovisual killed it, keeping everyone on the personalized dance floor all night long. The dessert table and wedding cake with pearls by Pasteleria la Migaja were super sweet. Fireworks, tequila toasts, and the love of family and friends, a warm welcoming, and unforgettable night.
Any advice for brides planning a wedding in Mexico?
Having your wedding at Villa La Joya is the BEST decision you could make (besides saying yes to your fiancé). If you’re worried about not speaking the language, not being able to see the venue, talking to vendors only via email/video chats don’t be. Remember, it’s your & fiancé’s wedding so do what you want to make it yours!
A memorable experience of the whole planning process was going down to Cancun for 4 days, staying at one of their condos, and having a wedding planning extravaganza essentially. I was able to meet all my vendors in person, taste food from the caterer, taste our desserts, and walk the property.
Anything you would have done differently?
The only thing I would’ve done differently is added more hours to the day so it could’ve lasted forever.
Muchas gracias, big thanks to Madie and Cole for choosing Villa Planners Playa del Carmen
