Villa la Joya “Bridgerton Garden Party” Destination Wedding in the Riviera Maya
Newlyweds David and Nikky celebrated their wedding day by turning our Italian-style villa in Mexico into a stunning Bridgerton garden party. The team at Villa Planners had a marvelous time bringing this vision to life. A fantasy of fun, florals and romance from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception, get ready for some real wedding inspiration!
I wanted the overall feel of the wedding to be like an intimate garden party so it was important for me to have colors that were inspired by the venue itself, which is where the blues, greens, ivory came from. My dress had a blush undertone so it was important for me to pull in some pinky/peachy shades as well. When it all came together it had a whimsical Bridgerton garden party feel to it which is exactly what we were hoping for.

Why choose a destination wedding in Mexico?
During Covid we started traveling to Mexico to take little vacations and fell in love with the culture, people, and food of course. Our friends and family are scattered all over so people would need to travel regardless of location so we thought it would be perfect to make the wedding a vacation for our guests as well and it would be the best of both worlds.
What made you decide on a Villa La Joya wedding with Villa Planners? How was your experience working with us?
Since I’m from Florida, I’m naturally a beach girl, but I knew I wanted something different than a traditional beach wedding. I loved how customizable everything was able to be with Villa La Joya and loved that you got the ocean view without being on the beach itself.
Of course the interior and exterior of the Villa are absolutely stunning as well! Nancy and team were so helpful with any questions and recommendations. Communication is great and they made the wedding day and days leading up to it a breeze!
What was your favorite moment of your Villa la Joya wedding day?
One of our favorite moments was making sure we set aside time to enjoy some of cocktail hour with our guests. It was so nice to get to walk around the villa during sunset and mingle with everyone before dinner and dancing started.
Any advice for couples planning a destination wedding?
Everyone says it, but the day really does go so fast! I don’t think I would have done anything differently, but we were about 30 minutes late to getting ready, so I wish I would have been more prompt with that morning of. Thankfully, I had a ton of help from my sister during the entire process and with planning all the little details, but the more you can finalize in advance, the better, so the day of is worry-free. This really allowed me to be present and enjoy the day to the fullest.
